The rate payer customers of the municipal Water District fund the annual operation and multi-year infrastructure projects through a combination of their water bill based upon water consumption / usage and their property tax bill bases upon the value of their property. The Board of Water Commissioners set and periodically revise the rates and fees charged for water and services. The District is able to reduce the annual cost to the rate payers by approximately 10% with the lease revenue received from the three cellular telecommunication vendors applied to the annual operating costs.
The Board of Water Commissioners is working on revisions to the schedule of water rates and fees collected by the District during their regular second and fourth Monday 6:30 PM Board Meetings throughout each month of the summer. The last water rate increase was in 2005 and those rates were over thirty years old at that time. Customers using excessive amounts of water outdoors for irrigation, pools, car washing, etc. are advised that they will notice a significant increase in their next water bill.
