LCWD set to Reintroduce Main Street Station back into Water System
Recently the Lynnfield Center Water District (LCWD) worked with the Weston & Sampson Services Construction Group to perform cleaning, rehabilitation and redevelopment of the well on Main Street just past Lowell Street. This is referred to as Station 2, Main Street, in the water system.
LCWD currently pumps, treats and distributes slightly over 200 million gallons of water per year to over 2,600 customers in Lynnfield from three active locations. Those are Station 2 Main Street (the well located just past the intersection of Main Street and Lowell Street); Five wells at the dead end of Phillips Road referred to as Station 3; and 4 wells at the dead end of Glen Drive referred to as Station 4 in our system diagrams.
The work recently completed has increased capacity at the Main Street Station from just above 120 gallons/minute to over 225 gallons/minute all while improving water quality. Attached you can find some before and after photos of some critical steps in the process.

In order to complete this work, the station was recently take off line over the last three weeks. With the work complete, we are preparing to start the station and reintroduce water from it, once treated, into the system. It is critical that this take place now prior to entering the part of the year when additional demand is observed and needed. Be advised, that this process may cause some reversal of flow in water main pipes within the streets and could cause slight discoloration. Similar to advisories when we conduct water flushing, if you do experience some slight discoloration, please run your cold water to clear it.
Feel free to contact us if you have other questions or concerns or additional questions. Although we have altered our operations significantly due to the State of Emergency and those conditions placed upon all of us by local, state and federal agencies, we remain available to assist our customers and continue to operate the system to safe drinking water standards.
