Be advised that GTA Inc. will be working with LCWD on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 upgrading hydrants along Walnut Street, mainly at #165 and opposite #150 Walnut. We also will be working on Walnut near Thistle Lane. This work is being performed in anticipation and prior to the start of roadway work planned for later this week by the Lynnfield Public Works Department. Police details will be on site but it is anticipated that work throughout the day will impact traffic. Detours are anticipated. Work will start at 7:00 a.m.
While it may cause some slight discoloration or pressure drops, this work should not impact your water supply. However, should expected conditions change once the work begins and underground components of the water main are exposed, please follow the list of helpful hints below once water is restored. You can contact the main office @ 781.334.3901 or go to our website at www.LCWD.US for the most up to date information.
If as a result of this work you experience periods with no water, poor pressure, and possibly discoloration of the water, especially when the water is turned back on, please see below:
- Turn your cold water on first and let it run until it is clear, preferably from an outside water spigot.
- Do not run your hot water or use your dishwasher until the water is clear.
- Do not use your washing machine–your clothes may become stained.
- Although the water is safe to drink, please avoid drinking the water if it is discolored.
- We do not recommend, but you may flush your toilet; however, when the water is turned on you will need to flush several times to clear the discolored water from the toilet tank.
- If you accidentally use your hot water while the water is discolored, you may have to completely flush the hot water tank to clear out the discoloration and there is a possibility that you may damage the hot water heater.
