LCWD crew will continue to conduct dead-end blow offs within the system throughout the month of May. Although unlikely because these tests are performed at low flow velocities, residents may experience low water pressure while this work is being performed. You may also notice the water is slightly discolored while operators are on your street. Discoloration can be alleviated by running a high flow cold water faucet until water runs clear. Residents should avoid doing laundry during the flushing period and check their water first by running cold water before starting their washing machine. Please contact the office at 781-334-3901 should you have any questions.
Please refer to the do’s and don’ts after the repair has been made.
- TURN YOUR COLD WATER ON FIRST AND LET IT RUN UNTIL IT IS CLEAR, PREFERABLY FROM AN OUTSIDE WATER SPIGOT.
- Do not run your hot water or use your dishwasher until the water is clear.
- Do not use your washing machine – your clothes may become stained.
- Although the water is safe to drink, please avoid drinking the water if it is discolored.
- You may need to flush your toilet several times to clear the discolored water from the toilet tank.
- If you accidentally use your hot water while the water is discolored, you may have to completely flush the hot water tank to clear out the discolorations and there is a possibility that you may damage the hot water heater.
